Dark Story

Interior Design: Michael Ohayon
Photography: Elad Gonen

When a couple from Petah Tikva approached interior designer Michael Ohayon, their initial thought was to move to a new home. But Ohayon, as only he can, showed them how their existing space could be transformed into something completely new—a home that radiates luxury, tranquility, and the feeling of a permanent getaway.

Walls were opened, natural light poured in, and the previously confined kitchen became an integral part of the central living space. The living room features a curved Tsoof sofa in textured fabric, accompanied by two Hug 360 swivel armchairs in a striking black-and-white pattern that adds a dynamic contrast of textures and colors. At the heart of the space sits the Sharoni coffee table, hand-upholstered in leather, making a bold statement while anchoring the entire design. All of this rests atop a round Natalie rug in deep black, tying the space together with a refined and sophisticated aesthetic.

The bedroom received equally meticulous attention. A Fives bed in elegant gray takes center stage, flanked by Sika nightstands, carefully upholstered in leather to maintain a seamless, polished look. At the entrance to the room, the Yoko Ono mirror, finished in leather, enhances the sense of space and elegance. In the corner, a Dolphin chaise lounge, custom-sized to 1.6 meters, was adapted specifically for the room—originally designed in a larger scale, this bespoke version ensures a perfect fit for both the space and the homeowners’ needs.

The balcony, which had been somewhat overlooked, underwent a dramatic transformation into a spacious outdoor living area, complete with a fully equipped kitchen and durable outdoor furniture that extends the interior’s design language. Just like inside, the careful attention to lighting, textiles, and materials ensures a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Working with Michael Ohayon is always a process of precision, creativity, and thoughtful design. Our collaboration spans years, and witnessing how our furniture seamlessly integrates into his unique vision is always inspiring. This project proves once again that you don’t need a new home for a fresh start—sometimes, all it takes is a keen eye, artistic craftsmanship, and the right connection between details.
