Shai David designed this apartment like a tailored suit for his client, a doctor with refined taste and a sharp eye for detail. This isn’t our first project with Shai and certainly not the last. Over the years, the relationship has grown into a real partnership built on mutual respect, a shared understanding of materials, and plenty of great conversations about design and about life. When he approached this project, high up in a tower in Tel Aviv’s Kochav HaTzafon neighborhood, he knew exactly where he was headed: a space with a double height ceiling, a huge glass façade that fills the room with natural light, and a panoramic view that feels like the whole city resting in your hand.
In the living room, a deep and cozy Dubale R sofa sits with its back to the window, upholstered in a bright and practical fabric. Opposite it are two rotating Hug armchairs, a Z side table, and a custom coffee table, a unique green version of our new Pebble collection, with a clear glass top that continues the project’s clean and balanced lines. Beneath it all stretches a six meter Natalie rug, custom fitted to the space and running from the kitchen all the way past the dining area. The kitchen features swivel Duba bar stools, while on the opposite end, the dining area includes an enlarged oval version of our beloved Pacman table, chosen by Shay and custom made for the space. Around it sit the new Moni chairs, upholstered in a specially embossed fabric.
On the outdoor terrace, a lively mix of colors and textures comes together effortlessly. A bold orange two seater Elinor sofa, a Skinny Duba armchair with green leafs print, a marble Flower coffee table, and an orange aluminum Nosh side table set the tone. In the white toned bedroom, two Lotus armchairs in white bouclé face a matching bench, complemented by carefully selected lighting and accessories from Tom Dixon, Bell and Melt fixtures inside, another Melt outside, a Stone lamp on the side table, and a Swirl piece out on the terrace.
Shai David has a gift for balancing warmth with restraint, personal taste with broad aesthetics. The two story high black oak wall and the ceiling lighting, a scattered cluster of small fixtures, belong to the visual language he created here. For us, this project is another example of how a good collaboration between designer and maker can produce something that’s not just beautiful, but precise, thoughtful, and a truly comfortable place to live.
